My Google Sketch-up Mac worktable

This is my Mac worktable. In the first scene, you have an overhead view, then I will bring you round the design to have a look. The 'drawer' on the right is for the mouse. I have created some borders to prevent the mouse from falling while the user is using it. The 'drawer' on the left is for the other necessary items, like stationery and also thumb-drives. As for the 'dent' in the worktable, it is for the Macbook/other laptops. There will be a flap to cover it and prevent it from falling out. The 'drawers' can also be slid in to make the worktable look like a normal laptop carrier.

Ergonomics and Anthropometry Part 1

1. Compare the two types of setup and state reasons why one of the setup is preferred.
Ans: The items used are useful and doesn't act as a hindrance as he is working, compared to the other one.

2. What are the area of considerations when designing a conducive and comfortable workplace?
Ans: Mobility, space, helpfulness

3. State the reasons why these considerations are important.
Ans: For mobility, a workplace has to have mobility as the worker will have to move around a bit and stretch once in a while to keep himself awake. For space, the worker will need to be able to keep a lot of his things on his table, but the worker will need to tidy up his workplace too. The inventions will also have to be helpful and not act as a hindrance so that the worker can work properly.

EQs: Ranking

1. Are the elderly really getting the care and love that they really should have?
2. Are the elderly getting on with life?
3. Do the elderly really have everything they need in life?
4. What are the major problems that the elderly face in their everyday life?
5. How are the elderly getting on with life?
6. What can we do to help the elderly?
7. What are some things that the elderly need but are not easily accessed?
8. What can I do to help make sure the elderly get the essential products in life?
9. What can the elderly do to pass their time?
10.Should the elderly go out to look for a job?

1st: Do the elderly really have everything they need in life?
2nd: What are some of the things that the elderly need but are not easily accessed?
3rd: What can I do to make sure the elderly get the essential products in life?

I chose those as sometimes, the elderly need certain items/products for certain purposes, but not all the times they have it, so they would have to leave the house to get that thing. And sometimes that particular item/product may be found only at a certain place in Singapore, so they would have to travel far just to get that certain product. So I think those questions are very important, for the elderly may get injured or hurt when trying to get the item/product.

The Elderly Challenge

1. Explain in your own words, the FOUR key recommendations of the report.
Ans: First, the government should have more detailed measures to help the development of houses for the retired by the private sector by varying the length of land leases to lower land costs, to help the seniors who like those type of lifestyles.

Second, HDB should work with market players to offer reverse mortgage plans for elderly lessees to commercial terms to give another option for the elderly to get some income from their houses to meet expenses in old age without having to move out of their houses.

Third, To provide more rental housing options for seniors, HDB should explore the lease of its unoccupied flats to VWOs, to help the seniors incase they rather rent than buy or want to downgrade from their existing flats. Lastly, The government should think about bringing in guidelines for the provision of accessibility and safety features in the homes of the seniors to create a more elderly-friendly environment.

Lastly, MYCS and HDB should work together with VWOs and grassroots organizations to provide services to the elderly and provide them some opportunities to lead an active lifestyle.

2. State ONE way that the CAI report is recommending to make our public housing more elderly-friendly.
Ans: The government should thinking about bring in guidelines for the provision of accessibility and safety features in homes of seniors, to create a more elderly-friendly environment.

3. State TWO ways on how we can ensure that the quality of elderly care here in Singapore is affordable.
First, the government should top-up the Medisave accounts of people that are less well off when there are budgetary surpluses to make sure seniors can afford healthcare services.

Second, the government should set up a caregiver centre to help families in terms of caregiving through provision of info resources and programs.

4. After reading the CAI report, what do you are the THREE things that you can do, as an SST student, to help overcome these elderly challenges.
First, I could care more for my grandparents, so the government has two less elderly to worry about. We could all do this, to help the government lighten their burden.

Second, we could donate some money each, say about $10 and use that money to buy some daily products for the elderly. Then we could visit the elderly and give those products to them.

Lastly, we could go to an elderly care centre and provide them with some entertainment to cheer them up. some elderly feel sad and depressed, and also lonely, so our performances will cheer them up and maybe give them some hope in life.

ADMT photography: Nostalgic

This are my photos. They show the theme 'Nostalgic'. I will miss the fun times I had and the friends I made after I leave SST. But I will cherish every moment I have in SST.
